Live Betting Without Money and How a Play-for-Points Game Works

Live betting without money is a play-for-points game: you call the next goal, point or play during a live match, and points move. No money is wagered, points have no cash value, and there are no prizes.

Plenty of fans like the feeling of calling a moment before it happens, but have no interest in staking money on it, or live somewhere real-money betting is not allowed for them. A play-for-points game keeps the part that is fun, reading the match and being right, and removes the part that costs money. This guide explains how such a game works, using RealTimeBets Play as the worked case: what a call is, where multipliers come from, how a call settles, what private leagues add, what Premium costs and where the hard lines are.

What play for points means

RealTimeBets Play is a game. No money is wagered and points have no cash value. That sentence is the core of the product, and it shapes every rule below it.

  • Points cannot be bought. There is no shop, no top-up and no pack of points for sale. The subscription pays for access to the game, not for points.
  • Points cannot be transferred. You cannot send them to another player or move them between accounts.
  • Points cannot be exchanged. They do not convert into money, vouchers, credits, crypto or anything else, inside the game or outside it.
  • There are no prizes. Topping a leaderboard gets you the top spot on a leaderboard. Nothing more.

Because points have no value outside the game, losing them costs you nothing except your position in a table. That is the point of the design. The game should be as engaging as following a live market, without any of the financial risk.

How a call works

A call is a prediction about a short moment in a live match. You pick a market, choose how many of your game points to commit, and confirm. The available markets change with the sport and with the state of the match.

  • Soccer: goal in the next 5 minutes, corner in the next 2 minutes, next team to score.
  • Tennis: ace on the next point, server wins the next point, next game goes to deuce.
  • Basketball: next possession scores, three-pointer in the next 60 seconds, points in the next 2 minutes.
  • American football: next drive result, such as touchdown, field goal or no score.
  • Ice hockey and baseball: goal in the next 3 minutes, next batter reaches base, strikeout on the next plate appearance.
  • CS2: next round winner, bomb planted next round.

Each call shows a multiplier next to it. If the call is right, the points you committed are multiplied by that figure and added to your balance. If it is wrong, the committed points are gone. Your balance, your weekly total and your league position update as calls settle.

Where the multiplier comes from

The multiplier is not a random number. It comes from the same live pricing engine that RealTimeBets offers to licensed operators. Statistical models estimate the probability of each outcome from the state of the match: Poisson models for goals in soccer and hockey, serve-hold Markov models for tennis, possession models for basketball and American football. Prices are recomputed every second while the match is live.

A likely outcome gets a low multiplier. An unlikely one gets a high multiplier. Take a soccer match at 0 to 0 in the 70th minute. If the model puts a goal in the next 5 minutes at around one chance in five, the multiplier for "goal in the next 5 minutes" sits near 4x and "no goal" sits a little above 1x. Commit 200 points on the goal at 4x and you get 800 back if it happens. If no goal arrives, the 200 points are gone.

Why a market sometimes freezes

When something important happens, such as a goal, a card or a score, the engine suspends the affected markets for a few seconds while it works out the new probabilities. During that pause you cannot make a call on those markets. This is the same safeguard a real live market uses: it stops anyone calling a moment that has already happened.

How a call settles

Calls settle automatically from the match's incident feed. When the feed reports the incident that decides the market (the goal, the ace, the end of the drive) or the window closes without it, the market is resulted and every call on it is settled at the multiplier that was shown when the call was made.

  1. You make a call and the multiplier at that moment is locked to it.
  2. The market stays open for others and its multiplier keeps moving with the match.
  3. The deciding incident arrives, or the time window ends.
  4. The market settles and your points update, usually within moments.

Matches you see in the game today are replays of fictional teams marked Replay, while real matches from the licensed data feed carry a Live label. Both settle the same way, from incidents.

Private leagues with friends

The game is more fun with people you know. Premium players can create private leagues and invite friends with a code. Each league has its own weekly and all-time table, so a group watching the same match can see who read it best. A Premium account can run up to 10 private leagues, each with up to 50 members.

Leagues show points and nothing else. There is no entry fee, no pot and no payout. The weekly table resets so that a bad week does not decide the season.

What Premium costs and what the demo includes

Anyone can try the game once. The first 3 calls need no signup, and after you confirm your email the demo runs to 10 calls in total, so you can see how multipliers move and how calls settle. It is a one-time trial, not a plan, and it does not renew.

Premium is the subscription for the full game. It costs $49 per month, or $24 per month billed yearly ($288 per year). It includes every live match across the sports in the engine, calls with live multipliers, a builder that combines 2 to 6 calls (combined multiplier minus 10 percent for correlation), cash out at about 95 percent of fair value, private leagues and browser alerts for the market types you choose. Every plan is a subscription. The subscription pays for access and features only. It never buys points and never adds value to them.

Play for points compared with real-money betting

The two activities look similar on screen, which is why it helps to set the differences out plainly.

Who the game is for and how to keep it healthy

The game is for adults 18 and over. Signup asks for your date of birth and an 18+ confirmation. It suits fans who already watch with a phone in hand, groups who follow the same team, and anyone who wants to test their reading of a match against friends.

Even without money, any fast game can take more time than you meant to give it. The responsible play page explains session reminders, how to exclude yourself from the game for a period, and where to find independent help if gaming or gambling is causing harm. If you ever feel the game has stopped being fun, those tools are there to use.

To see it working, open the live betting game on the homepage, pick a match from the strip and make your first call. The sports prediction game page describes leagues and features in more detail, and the live matches page lists every match running in the game right now, sport by sport.

Questions about playing for points

Can I win money or prizes playing for points?

No. Points have no cash value and there are no prizes of any kind. The only thing a good run gets you is a higher place on a leaderboard.

Can I buy more points if I run out?

No. Points cannot be bought, transferred or exchanged. The Premium subscription pays for access to the game and its features, not for points.

Is a play-for-points game gambling?

Gambling involves staking something of value for a chance to win something of value. In RealTimeBets Play nothing of value is staked and nothing of value can be won, which is why no money is involved at any step.

Why is the game 18+ if there is no money?

The game uses the language and mechanics of live sports markets. We keep it for adults so that it is never a young person's first contact with those ideas.

What happens to my call if the market freezes?

A call you already made keeps its multiplier and settles normally. A freeze only stops new calls on that market for a few seconds while the engine reprices.
